What We Do
With so many programs and administrative units, providing leadership and direction is crucial — and that’s the duty of the Office of the Marion County Health Director, whose functions include:
- health policy and planning
- fiscal, grants and materials management
- health education
- promotion and training research
- public relations
- maternal and child health activities
Under the leadership of Dr. Virginia A. Caine, the office handles a variety of responsibilities: from formulating health policy and planning based on health issues and trends, to promoting healthy neighborhoods through education and training; from staying abreast of health research, to providing guidance for both Health Department staff and the broader health Marion County community.
