What We Do

Our mission is to significantly reduce infant mortality in Marion County and to safeguard the health of pregnant and breastfeeding women, infants and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk.

Through the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program, we provide access to nutritious foods, essential education and resources designed to promote healthy development during critical early years of development. WIC serves a vital role in the lives of families who may be facing financial hardship.

By offering supplemental foods like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, and dairy products, WIC ensures that families receive essential nutrients for their growing children.

Additionally, participants are given nutrition education that empowers them to make informed food choices and develop healthy habits that will last a lifetime. We also understand the importance of supporting fatherhood engagement, as active fathers play a crucial role in their children's development.

WIC facilitates this by providing programs that encourage parents to work together in fostering a nurturing environment. Our efforts extend beyond food assistance, too: we connect families with critical community resources, including healthcare, housing support and parenting classes, to help them overcome barriers they may face.

WIC is not just about nutrition — it’s about building a supportive community where families can thrive. Through breastfeeding support and workshops on healthy behaviors, we guide participants toward making choices that positively impact their long-term health.
